Mother and grandmother, and a sex worker? “I absolutely love my life now, it’s changed me as a person”

A “mature” sex worker, Taylor Tara from Australia, loves what she does for a living and explains why. “I think that they all think that we’re drug users, no-good people, alcoholics — our clients are all classed as deviants or sickos,” she said. “That’s why the nice ones don’t come out because they get stereotyped right the way across the board.”

Taylor didn’t start her career as a sex worker until her 40s, after a “bad run of boyfriends” when one day she found herself seriously considering a job at a local brothel.

Ms Tara said many of the men she saw were lonely and struggled with their mental health issues, “The majority have some form of depression,” she said. Naturally compassionate, she felt she could play a role in supporting isolated, vulnerable men.
